German technical background VOK®- SL 3451 organosilicon surfactant
It is suitable for water-based printing ink and finish varnish, ink-jet ink, water-based paint, adhesive and curing products to reduce surface tension. It is particularly suitable for improving the wetting of water-based systems on non-polar substrates. Does not increase the smoothness of the surface.
Product information
Chemical composition
Polyether modified siloxane
Typical physical and chemical data
The data given in this data page are only typical values, not technical indicators of the product.
Active substance: 99.99%
Density (20 ℃): 1.01 g/ml
Special precautions
The additive is also suitable for systems without organic solvents. If the system contains too much cosolvent, the organosilicon surfactant may not be efficient. In the formula with more cosolvent, we recommend using polysiloxane, such as VOK®- SL 333 or VOK®- SL 3760。
Application field
Printing ink
Product characteristics and advantages The additive can effectively reduce the surface tension of water-based system.
VOK®- SL 3451 especially improves the wetting and leveling of non-polar substrates, such as polyethylene, polypropylene and coated offset paper. Its foam stabilizing tendency is very low and does not affect the recoating property.
VOK®- SL 3451 has good substrate wettability, especially suitable for thin coating applications. The additive does not increase the smoothness of the surface. For higher surface smoothness, it is recommended to use polysiloxane additives such as VOK®- SL 333 or VOK®- SL 376。
Recommended use
This additive is suitable for all kinds of water-based printing inks and varnishes, especially for formulations without cosolvent.
VOK®- SL 3451 is particularly recommended for improving the wettability of water-based systems on low-polar substrates, such as polyethylene and polypropylene.

Finish varnish
Recommended dosage
0.1-1% additive dosage (supply form) is based on the total formula, in printing ink and varnish.
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and a good dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Addition method and processing guidance
It can be added at any stage of the production process, but it is better to add it at the last stage.
