TPS92,638-Q1 is an eight channel linear LED driver with PWM dimming control function. The design is ideal for driving multiple LED strings to the medium power range.
The device can drive up to eight light strings, each of which can have one to three LEDs, and the total current of each channel is up to 70mA. Multiple outputs can be parallelized to provide up to 560mA of drive current.
In the application of multiple lamp strings, the advantage of this device is that it supports the common cathode connection of LED lamp strings. Therefore, for the system with low-end current sensing function, only one return line is required, instead of one return line for each LED lamp in series.
The device has the ability to switch LED current between high current and low current, and is suitable for stop lamp and tail lamp applications. These two LED current levels can be set for each output through two reference resistors.
The device includes a temperature monitor, which can reduce the LED driving current when the junction temperature of the integrated circuit (IC) exceeds the temperature threshold. The temperature threshold can be programmed by an external resistor. Ground the TEMP pin to disable the thermal current monitoring function. The junction temperature can be output in the form of analog voltage in the factory program.
