German technical background VOK®-UV 3500 surface additives for radiation curing system
VOK®-UV 3500 is a crosslinkable silicone surface additive for radiation-curable printing inks, coatings and adhesives. Good reduction of surface tension, good substrate wetting and tape peelability, while improving the surface slip and leveling of the coating.
Product Information
Chemical composition
Polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane containing acrylate functional groups
Typical materialized data
The data presented on this data page are typical values only and are not technical indicators of the product.
Density (20 °C): 1.04 g/ml
Refractive index (20 °C): 1.443
Active Ingredient: 99.99%
Storage and transportation
Store and transport below 40 °C.
Application areas
Printing inks and varnishes
Features and benefits
Due to its high interfacial activity, VOK®-UV 3500 collects on the surface of the coating film. Its acrylate functional group allows it to be crosslinked into the coating polymer network and thus well fixed to the surface of the coating film. The additive provides good surface slip, leveling and substrate wettability.
Recommended use
VOK®-UV3500 is particularly recommended for all non-aqueous and radiation-curable flexography, offset and screen printing, as well as radiation-curable varnishes.
Recommended dosage
0.2-1% additive dosage (purchased form) is based on total formulation.
The above recommended addition amount is for reference, and the suitable addition amount needs to be determined by a series of tests.
Incorporation method and processing guidance
Can be added at any stage, including post-add.
Features and benefits
Due to the good reduction of surface tension, VOK-UV® 3500 can improve substrate wettability and leveling of adhesives. In addition, due to its high interface activity, VOK-UV® 3500 will collect on the surface of the coating film. Its acrylate functional group allows it to be crosslinked into the polymer network and thus well fixed to the surface of the coating film. Its good compatibility makes the highly transparent adhesive cloudless.
Recommended use
Recommended for non-aqueous, radiation-curable adhesive systems.
Recommended dosage
0.1-0.5% additive dosage (purchased form) is based on total formulation.
The above recommended addition amount is for reference, and the suitable addition amount needs to be determined by a series of tests.
Incorporation method and processing guidance
Can be added at any stage, including post-add.
Special reminder
Unlike so-called silicone oil, the additive is easy to use. Even so, the effect on adhesive properties must be tested before use.

Features and benefits
Due to its high interfacial activity, VOK®-UV 3500 collects on the surface of the coating film. Its acrylate functional group allows it to be crosslinked into the coating polymer network and thus well fixed to the surface of the coating film. Due to the crosslinking of acrylate functional groups, VOK®-UV 3500 has good leveling, surface slip and tape peelability in waterborne UV systems. In non-aqueous, radiation-curable systems, VOK®-UV 3500 provides good surface slip and good tape peelability.
Recommended use
The additive is particularly suitable for water-based, non-aqueous and radiation-curable coatings and can be cross-linked with binders. It can also be used in conventional curing systems, but without crosslinking with the binder.
Recommended dosage
0.05-2% additive dosage (purchased form) is based on total formulation.
The above recommended addition amount is for reference, and the suitable addition amount needs to be determined by a series of tests.
Incorporation method and processing guidance
Can be added at any stage, including post-add.
