Special reminder
The post-treatment of some organic pigments will have a negative impact on the performance of the additive. In this case, the same type of untreated pigment may be used When applied to coil coatings, the interaction between the cationic promoter and acid catalyst must be considered. Free acid or epoxy blocked acid is more suitable than amine blocked acid. This problem can be solved by using VOK ®- Disper 170 series additives.
The deflocculating pigments have a stronger settling tendency, especially those inorganic pigments with a large proportion. Use of liquid rheological aids such as VOK in the grinding phase ®- 410 or VOK ®- 430 This problem can be avoided.
Application field
Coating industry
Features and Benefits
The additive makes the pigment deflocculate and stable through steric hindrance, and it also makes the pigment particles have the same charge. The resulting repulsive effect and steric stability prevent the pigment from co flocculation, so that the color without floating and blooming problems can be obtained in the system containing multiple pigments.
The flocculating property of the additive can improve the luster, color strength, transparency and hiding power, and reduce the viscosity of the abrasive.
Recommended use
Because of its high solid content and no aromatic solvent, the additive should be used preferentially in the new application formula. It is VOK in solvent based pigment concentrates and coatings ®- DF 164 and VOK ®- Alternative to DF 167.
The recommended amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Inorganic pigment: 12-15%
Titanium dioxide: 3-4%
Organic pigment: 20-35%
Carbon black: 60-70%
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
Adding method and processing guidance
In order to obtain good performance, additives must be added to the grinding material first, and then the pigment.
Premix the resin and solvent components in the abrasive, and then slowly add the auxiliary agent in the state of continuous stirring. Do not add pigments when the auxiliaries have not been completely dispersed evenly.
When it is used for post addition (to remedy defective batches), the additive should be added slowly under high shear force.
