German technical background  VOK®-AP 967 wax auxiliary

VOK®-AP 967 is a synthetic polymer used in powder coatings to obtain a coarse texture effect. When used with metallic pigments, a uniform hammer pattern and distressed surface can be obtained.

Features and benefits 

This additive is used to obtain a coarse weaving effect. It is very compatible and provides a uniform and highly reproducible texture result. The addition of metal pigments can obtain a uniform hammer pattern and distressed surface, and the metal pigments in the system have good separation. 

Recommended dosage 

0.1-0.3% additive dosage (form supplied) is based on total formulation. 

The above recommended addition amount is for reference, and the suitable addition amount needs to be determined by a series of tests. 

Incorporation method and processing guidance 

The additive is used by mixing resins, curing agents, pigments and other raw materials in a high-speed mixer and then extruded through an extruder. 

Pay special attention

VOK®-AP 967 can only achieve a weaving effect when no leveling agent is used. If a leveling agent is used at the same time, there is no weaving effect and there are cratering holes.
