Elderberry: loniceraceae

Deciduous shrubs or small trees, red fruits, rarely blue purple black, ovoid or suborbicular, 3-5 mm in diameter; 2-3 nuclei, oval to oval, 2.5-3.5mm long, slightly wrinkled.

Stem and branch (elderberry): sweet, bitter, flat. Dispelling wind, promoting dampness, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain. It is used for rheumatic muscle and bone pain, low back pain, edema, rubella, addiction rash, postpartum blood halo, bruise, swelling and pain, fracture, trauma and bleeding.

Root or root bark (elderberry root): sweet, flat. It is used for rheumatism, arthralgia, phlegm, edema, diarrhea, jaundice, traumatic injury and scald.

Leaves (elderberry leaves): bitter, cool. Promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis and relieving pain. It is used for traumatic fracture, rheumatic arthralgia and muscle and bone pain.

Flower (elderberry flower): used for sweating and diuresis.
