Thickness Requirement of Nanjing Ourgreen Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board
When Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board is installed for building insulation, as being used together with
Roof / Wall / Floor, a thickness of less than 50mm is enough.
In area such as Cold Chain Logistic Truck manufacturing, Cold Storage, Insulation board at thickness of
75mm / 100mm or more is preferred. Especially in Cold Storage, where release of cold is critical. People
tend to require large panel like 2440X1220X100mm or even 2440X1220X150mm.
Fire Classification of Nanjing Ourgreen Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board
XPS Foam board has to meet fire classification requirement of at least B2 Grade in China. According to
China National Standard GB/T 2406.2, B2 Grade corresponds to an Oxygen Index of > 26% while B1
Grade corresponds to and Oxygen Index of >30%.
Customer is sometimes more interested in how those China Fire Classification Grade matches European
Standard. Well, general speaking, B1 Grade in China National Standard equals to Grade B & C in EN
13501 while B2 Grade in China equals to Grace D & E in Europe.
Nanjing Ourgreen Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board in Cold Storage Flooring:
Usually in Cold Storage Insulation, an Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board in size of 2400X1200X50mm,
with a compression strength of above 350Kpa is preferred. The large panel helps save labor cost and
avoid too many joints of panels which may cause thermal bridge.
XPS with directly extruded natural skins are more popular in this application, as this makes XPS absorbs
less water.
When installing, 4 layers of 50mm Extruded Polystyrene Foam Board are placed in a staggered way to
improve better Cold Insulation Efficiency.
Steps for installing:
Clean the concrete floor;
Put a layer of PE film above ground as moisture barrier;
Install 4 layers of 50mm thick XPS in a staggered way;
Put another layer of PE film above all XPS;
Pour concrete on the PE film and level it.
