European Union banned HCFCs in 2002 and HFCs were banned in 2013 too. The European Union 

tends to use CO2 System, namely CO2 + Alcohols + Aliphatic Hydrocarbons.

Japan forbid use of HCFC in XPS production in 2004 and now they are using Isobutane as Blowing Agent.

With aid of Water and some other assistant Blowing Agent, the final XPS bears special structure, which 

decreases Thermal Conductivity and improves fire behavior.

North America uses HFC blends as the Blowing Agent and one other manufacturer uses CO2 + Aliphatic +

Water.
