INTRODUCTION

DENIE-BATE TLPS-P is an acid protease enzyme concentrate designed to be diluted prior to being used as an enzymatic bating agent. On poorly bated pelts it removes wrinkles and area yield. It is also suitable for use in preparations designed for use in acidic stages of leather processing such as pickling, double-face and wet-blue reconditioning.

Dilution may be undertaken by the tannery or, more commonly, by third party formulators who may blend it with other active constituents.

TEMPERATURE and pH PROFILES

The performance of enzymatic leather processing products depends upon process conditions such as temperature, pH, and time, nature of the substrate and enzyme concentration.

The nature of DENIE-BATE TLPS-P means that it is effective in the temperature range of 25° - 30°C even though its optimum temperature for activity is approximately 40° - 50°C.

DENIE-BATE TLPS-P is effective over a wide pH range (3.0 – 6.0) with optimum activity at pH 3.0 – 3.5.

Due to the type of enzyme and its versatility, DENIE-BATE TLPS-P can be considered as the enzyme constituent of products used in other leather processing stages such as the first stage of wet-blue reconditioning.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

DENIE-BATE TLPS-P has a high enzyme activity level and should not be used directly in leather processing stages in its neat form. The product should be diluted or used as a constituent of a bating preparation prior to use. The dosage level of a dilution or preparation should be equivalent to using DENIE-BATE TLPS-P at 0.00025% – 0.00040% on weight of hide. The preparation should be added: 60 - 90 minutes before the end of pickling/ depickling; 90 – 120 minutes before the end of tannage during basification; or just before neutralisation.

Variations in hide and local conditions can affect the performance of leather processing chemicals. DENYKEM recommend that small scale tests are carried out under local conditions before using products in full scale production. This will avoid any overdosing and any damage that may result from it. This is especially important where poor quality or badly preserved hides are being processed.

Active constituent:  Acid protease.

Activity:                   20 AU/g

Storage:                    Storage temperature should be controlled between 5° and 25°C. Keep in sealed containers and                                  avoid exposure to moisture and high humidity.

Shelf life:                  6 months minimum under correct storage conditions.

If there is an extended storage period, higher temperature or high moisture levels, Dosage                                  requirements may need to be increased.

HEALTH and SAFETY

As with all enzyme products special care needs to be taken to control exposure. Please see the safety data sheet.

TECHNICAL SERVICE

The DENYKEM team of technical advisors are available to recommend the most suitable enzymes for various leather processing stages. They can be contacted at DENYKEM’s UK production and development facility.

These conditions are only given as a guide. Tests should be carried out under local conditions to ascertain the optimum dosage for the machine type, fabric source and water conditions.
