LTS-3000A Liquid Based Cytology Slide Processor

Liquid-Based Cytology is an improved pap smear preparation method which improve specimen adequacy and significanly increase test sensitivity comparing with conventional pap smear. It is a new standard of cervial cancer screening. 

(Pap Smear Method) Widely known but poor in accuracy. 

 

(Liquid-Based Cytology) Convenient for microscopic examination and high in accuracy.

LTS-3000A combines centrifugation, sedimentation and staining to complete the whole procedure of specimen processing, transfering, sedimentation and staining. It’s a breakthrough achievement of liquid based cytology.

Principles:

1. Centrifugation.

Specimens will be centrifuged twice. The first centrifugation separates the diagnostic material from non-diagnosis debris like cell fragments, impurity, mucus; the second centrifugation furture enriches diagnostic material.

2.  Sedimentation.

Since the gravity of lesion cells is higher than that of normal cell, the settling rate of the former is faster, it will settle on slide in priory and combines with charges on slide. This feature is useful to collect the lesion cells at most extent. 

3.  Staining.

The staining system performs full automated staining with mechanical arm; waste liquid from staining is discharged on time; after each staining is finished the mechanical arm flushes immediately in case of the cross contamination. The staining is in accordance with Pap and HE staining. 

4. Charge Capture.

The slides are specially processed to have positive charge. The slide captures cells with negative charges and form mono-layer cells on slides. 

 Are HPV and pap test both necessary?

HPV usually target two high-risk strians of the virus that cause 70% of cervical cancers. However, cancer can still develop due to strains that are not covered or due to other contributing factors. Therefore, routine pap test still very important in monitoring women cervical healthcare.
