Significance:

The incidence of fungus infection has been rising constantly globally. The incidence and case fatality rate resulted from fungus infection show an increasing tendency. The case fatality rate of monilial septicemia reaches up to 45% - 76% without treatment. The mortality rate is up to 70% - 90% for peoples who accept bone marrow transplantation. The deep fungal infection is very pernicious. Effective and rapid identification plays an important role in the fungus' diagnosis and treatment. 

Diagnosis principle:

Different saccharides and enzyme catalysis substrates are coated in holes of testing board to take advantage of fungus biochemical reaction and specificity enzyme catalysis. The fungi can be interpreted according the difference of saccharide assimilation test and enzyme catalysis.

Seven antibiotics clinically used to treat fungi at present are coated in the holes of the susceptibility area according to MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) recommended by NCCLS (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards). The susceptibility levels (susceptible, intermediate and resistant) are judged by the situation in which antibiotics inhibits the growth of fungi.
