TSTP-01 Stylus Pen Sliding and COF Tester
What makes a good stylus?
Three properties—durability, comfortable grip and ergonomics, and appropriate friction and precision—are essential for a good stylus as they contribute to its overall performance, user experience, and longevity.
Durability: A good stylus should be built to last, with sturdy construction and materials that withstand regular use without breaking or bending.
Comfortable Grip and Ergonomics: A good stylus should have a comfortable grip and ergonomic design for a natural and fatigue-free writing or drawing experience.
Appropriate Friction and Precision: The stylus should provide the right amount of friction on the screen surface for precise control and accuracy, capturing fine details and pressure variations effectively.
Application
The TSTP-01 Stylus Pen Sliding and COF Tester is a specialized instrument designed for the purpose of conducting durability and friction testing on stylus pens. It features two distinct test modes: linear back-and-forth sliding tests and coefficient of friction (COF) tests.
The linear back-and-forth sliding test mode allows for the evaluation of the endurance and wear resistance of stylus pens, making it particularly useful for assessing their long-term durability.
On the other hand, the coefficient of friction test mode is dedicated to precisely measuring the frictional characteristics of stylus pens against different screens or surfaces
Test Methods
The test stylus is fixed together with a certain weight and vertically over a touch panel or screen, which is lying on the machine plane. Thus the stylus is giving a gravity of this weight plus its own mass. Then the user sets the moving speed and choose the test modes required.
The coefficient of friction value can be used as reference of how to analyze and develop the stylus tip material, while a sliding test helps to evaluates how much the tip wears out after a certain test cycle.
Standards
ASTM D1894 and ISO 8295 can be used as a reference.
Technical Features
The TSTP-01 Stylus Sliding and Coefficient of Friction Tester is an advanced instrument designed for testing labs and stylus manufacturers. It is PLC controlled and operated through an HMI screen, ensuring industrial-level stability. With its high-speed linear movement guide and specially designed stylus holding jig, this tester provides precise analysis of stylus performance. It is an ideal tool for evaluating the sliding behavior and coefficient of friction of stylus products.
