It can be used in the manufacture of thermometers, barometers, sphygmomanometers, horizontal instruments, aircraft, ship navigation rotators, automatic controllers for traffic signals, automatic electrical switches, mercury lamps, mercury vacuum pumps, ultraviolet lamps, mercury rectifiers and oscillators, mercury baths, mercury salt dry batteries, storage batteries, and physical instruments. Electrolysis of table salt using mercury as electrode to produce high purity chlorine and caustic soda.
