9765-210 TRICONEX as a serial control bus for microcontroller systems

9765-210 TRICONEX can be said to have pioneered fieldbus technology as HP-IB, such as IEEE 488 [3] in 1975. It is known as the General Interface Bus (GPIB) and has become the de facto standard for automation and industrial instrument control.

The main application of GPIB is to use instruments from different manufacturers for automatic measurement. But it is a parallel bus with 24 wires of cables and connectors, and the maximum cable length is limited to 20 meters.
