Polysulfone is A thermoplastic resin containing chain sulfone (PSF or PSU) in the main chain of molecules. There are two kinds of PSF (common bisphenol A), polyaromatic sulfone and polyether sulfone).

Polysulfone (PSU) plastics are macromolecular main chain containing sulfone group and aromatic polymer compounds. It is a linear thermoplastic engineering plastic, with excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, radiation resistance, electrical insulation, outstanding creep resistance and high physical and mechanical properties, excellent chemical corrosion resistance, in addition to strong solvents, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and other chemical reagents stable.

According to the molecular structure of its main chain, polysulfone plastics can be divided into polysulfone, polyaromatic sulfone and polyether sulfone. Generally speaking, the thermal deformation temperature of polysulfone is 175℃, which can be used between -100℃ and 150℃ for a long time, and the aging resistance at high temperature is excellent. Polyaromatic sulfone is one of the most excellent varieties of heat-resistant engineering plastics, its heat-resistant and thermosetting polyimide comparable to the load deformation temperature of 275℃, long-term use temperature of 275℃, at -240℃--260℃ can maintain good mechanical properties and electrical insulation properties. The performance of polyether sulfone is between polysulfone and polyaromatic sulfone. The load temperature is 203℃. The long-term use temperature is -100℃--180℃. Polysulfone plastics can still maintain good electrical insulation in wet environment.

1. Polysulfone is amber transparent solid material, high hardness and impact strength, non-toxic, heat and cold resistance and aging resistance, can be used for a long time at -100--175 degrees. Resistant to inorganic acid, alkali and salt corrosion, but not resistant to aromatic hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons. Polyaromatic sulfone has high hardness, radiation resistance, good heat and cold resistance and self-breathable, can be used for a long time at -100-175 degrees.

The lower the water temperature, the higher the pressure: for example, at 72°F, the maximum pressure is 20.7MPa static load), 24.7MPa intermittent load). The creep (strain) of polysulfone is only 1% after 10000 h at 20.7MPa at room temperature. At 210°F and 2.07MPa, the total strain is still less than 2% after one year. After long-term use at 300°F, the strength and modulus of polysulfone increased by 10%, the insulation strength remained 90%, and the impact strength remained 70%. The tensile impact strength of polysulfone is up to 200. When exposed to high temperatures for the first few months, such as 300 °F, the annealing effect can reduce the performance value by 30%. But these properties remained constant over the two-year test period.

5, polysulfone has good comprehensive electrical properties: although the dielectric constant and loss factors are very low, but still has high dielectric strength and volume resistivity. And can remain constant over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies (even microwave frequencies).

Polysulfone can be chemically plated with nickel and copper and has a bond strength of 20lb/in.


application

Machinery industry: Used in the manufacture of clock shell and parts, copier and camera parts, as food machinery for hot water valve, refrigeration system equipment, transmission parts, etc. Polysulfone plastic with polytetrafluoroethylene or graphite and other wear-resistant filler can be used for high temperature load bearing, as well as piston ring, bearing cage, hot water measuring instrument, temperature pump pump body, impeller, etc.

Polyaromatic sulfone can be used as a C-class insulating material, as a variety of high temperature resistant coil frame, switch, connector, etc. Polyether sulfone can also be used as coil tube, coil frame, micro capacitor, etc. Glass fiber reinforced polyether sulfone can be used as thyristor insulator, miniature potentiometer shell and integrated circuit socket.

Transportation: Used for manufacturing automobile instrument panel, speed divider cover, guard plate, ball bearing cage, engine gear, thrust ring, etc. Hot air ducts and frame Windows on airplanes.

Medical instruments: Because of its transparency and heat-resistant water, steam, ethanol and hygiene characteristics, can be used to make gas masks, eye contact sterilizers, endoscope parts, artificial heart valves, artificial dentures, etc. Polyether sulfone can be made into artificial breathing apparatus, blood pressure check tube, dental mirror bracket, syringe, etc. Polysulfone and polyether sulfone can also be made into ultrafiltration membrane and reverse osmosis membrane
