Tempered glass is a kind of safety glass with high strength and resistance for scratch and have good thermal stability.

This is acheived by using thermal method to enhance the strength. After float glass is cut to size, and edgeworks, it is put into temper machine with heating to around 700 degree and then cooling down rapidly by wind jet. Thus causing the outer suface in compression whereas the inner side still in tension.  This makes the tempered glass 5 times more strength than normal glass. And when the tempered glass is broken, it will shatter into small pieces with obtuse angles which will do no harm to humans.
