Property: white or cream-like waxy powder or flakes with the odour of fatty, free flowing, nontoxic. Disperse in hot water, soluble in hot alcohol.

Application

GMS is a food additive used as a thickening, emulsifying, anticaking, and preservative agent; an emulsifying agent for oils, waxes, and solvents; a protective coating for hygroscopic powders; a solidifier and control release agent in pharmaceuticals; and a resin lubricant. 


It is also used in cosmetics and hair-care products.

GMS is largely used in baking preparations to add "body" to the food. It is somewhat responsible for giving ice cream and whipped cream their smooth texture. It is sometimes used as an antistaling agent in bread.


Usage

it is used:
1. In chocolate, sweet and ice cream: to prevent granulated sugar crystallization and separation of oil and water and enhance the smoothness and luster.
2. In margarine: to stabilize the emulsion.
3. In cream toffee: to enhance the emulsification.
4. In bread: to improve bread structure, enhance its softness and volume and extend quality guarantee period.
5. Plastic(EPS): to reduce caking during pre-foaming, improve EPS flowability and speed up to mold forming.
