Dual-Core Waterjet Debut

The new APW "Dual-Core" pump is equipped with dual intensifiers imported from the USA. The two intensifiers are able to work by alternative way. It significantly reduces the maintenance time, and expands the life span of the pump.

Imported components

We adopt the imported component like Rexroth hydraulic pump; USA intensifier; Siemens motor;Omron PLC; Yaskawa servo drive; Yuken direction control valves etc. The whole parts of Intensifier are assembled in USA (not just some parts), most of the smaller parts are also imported from USA to ensure its good stability during cutting, durability and long working service life.

Metal Cutting

For cutting metals such as titanium, steel, brass & cutting aluminum, waterjet machine cutting is in direct competition with a number of established cutting methods such as laser and plasma cutting. Waterjet table cutting can be used to cut thicker metals (up to 150 mm) than can be processed with laser and it offers greater precision than plasma cutting. Abrasive waterjet systems are also less expensive than laser systems, making them a solid choice for metal cutting and steel cutting in the fabrication industry.

Waterjet machine cutting is a cold cutting process and therefore is also ideal for automotive, medical and aerospace applications where the material cannot be affected by heat. Nearly every type of cut is possible, from using waterjet tables for rapid hole drilling to detailed cuts for automotive applications.

Waterjet cutters use an abrasive additive to create a clean, burr-free cut that does not require secondary finishing saving time and money. Waterjet machines are one of the most versatile cutting processes around and are well suited for high performance metal cutting and job shops too.

Glass Cutting

Abrasive waterjet cutting technology is a great method for cutting glass because it allows for contours and shapes that cannot be achieved with other cutting machines at a reasonable cost. From artistic tabletop inlays to detailed stained glass designs, mirrors, glass ornaments, replacement windows for antique cars, and more, there’s almost no glass cutting application that a waterjet cutting machine from APW Waterjet can’t tackle.

Glass has a tendency to crack, so it is very important that the initial holes are produced with a reduced pressure of 50Mpa to 100Mpa. Subsequently, the pressure must be increased to a cutting speed that is cost-effective. For glass, ceramics and other brittle materials, you must gradually increase and reduce the cutting pressure by means of proportional pressure control of the intensifier pump; otherwise the material would be destroyed.

Because water jet cutting does not vibrate the glass, there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ), or leave behind rough edges, almost no secondary finishing is required. 

1. what are the benefits of purchasing a waterjet comparing CNC plasma or a laser ?
Versatility
Abrasive waterjet can cut almost anything – from metal to stone to glass to composites to ceramic.
Laser and plasma cut with heat, and so can only cut materials that have the right thermal properties. Metal is almost always the target material in industry for these heat-based processes. And mild steel is almost always the metal that is cut by them. In addition, plasma can only cut things that are electrically conductive. To optimize laser and plasma cutting, change to gasses is required. No change to waterjet parameters, except speed, is usually required for any material.
Thickness
Waterjet can cut very thin and up to 150mm (sometimes more) of any metal, glass, stone, composite, etc.
Laser cuts very thin and up to 20mm.
Plasma cuts from about 25mm up to 30mm.
Edge finish
Nothing cut by a plasma or laser will be as high of quality of an edge as a waterjet. We leave behind a smooth edge. No heat affected zones or mechanical stresses are introduced. The plasma and laser cut with heat (we cut with supersonic erosion). Plasma and laser therefore will leave behind a heat affected zones, mechanical stresses, and, especially with plasma, dross 'drips' on the edge.

Generally,the consumption of abrasives is about 25kg per hour.

5. What's the Water jet running cost ?

6. How much training is required to learn how to run a waterjet system?
An operator with no experience should be able to learn how to operate and maintain a waterjet cutting machine with as little as one weel of training. New CAD/CAM nesting software offered by APW make it possible for an operator with no programming experience to program the machine with only a few hours of training.
