Gold Agar Gelidium is a food grade agar extracted from selected
red seaweeds of the type Gelidium from different origins.
Agar-agar is a polysaccharide, consisting primarily of Dand
L-galactose units. About every tenth D-galactopyranose
unit contains a sulfate ester group.
Gold Agar is used in different food applications such as
confectionery, bakery, glazing, dairy and meat products.
Gold Agar meets the specifications of the U.S. Food Chemical
Codex (FCC) as well as the Directive of the European
Community (EEC) applicable EEC number: E-406 (Agar-agar).
Its unique hygienic processing steps reduce the standard plate
count to specially low levels to exceed specifications for
microbial load.

Water gel strength : From 700 to 1000 g/cm2 (Nikanmethod at 1.5% at 20ºC).
Gel Point : 34-38ºC (at 1.5%).
Melting Point : 85-90ºC (at 1.5%).
Ash : Maximum 6%.
Arsenic (as As203) Less than 3 ppm.
Lead (as Pb) Less than 5 ppm.
Cadmium : Less than 1 ppm.
Mercury : Less than 1 ppm.
Total Heavy Metals : Less than 20 ppm.
