Evaporative coolers contain no ozone harmful CFC’s typically found in typical mechanical refrigeration processes of large areas. Along with filtering capabilities, these units also introduce fresh, cool air into work areas and storage environments. Saving as much as 75% of the cost incurred with air conditioning, these units reduce the electrical demand realized by utilities and ultimately reduce operating costs while raising efficiencies.
Evaporative cooling allows cool fresh air to circulate throughout a building forcing the stale hot air to be displaced out. Unlike air- conditioning which operates with re-circulated air, evaporative coolers operate on the principle of air change and work as part of balanced ventilation system. Most of the time outside air can be used to cool buildings; only on the hottest days does the cooling system kick in to cool the air before it is brought into the building.
It should not:
• Be allowed to draw in air which is unusually humid or containing unusual amountsof particulates.
• Operate with rain water, distilled and demineralised water or with unhygienic drinking water.
• Be used for the cooling of spaces without the provision of exhaust air or spaces either with significant over or under-pressure.
• Be used in spaces in which low humidities are needed or where there are corrosive gases.
