Calamus Oil is obtained by steam distillation of dried rhizomes of Acorus Calamus Linn plant of Indian Origin.

 

Description : Pale yellow to yellow coloured fluid liquid with characteristic odour.

Main Constituent : acorenone, isoshyobunine, asarone, calamendiol, a-selinene, a-calacorene, calamusenone, camphone and shyobunone.

Uses : The essential oil is anticonvulsant, antiveratrinic and antiarrhythmic. 
The oil of Acorus calamus is used as an ingradient in flavors, particularly in liquors. 
Acorus calamus oil is employed also in perfumery. Because of its peculiar, Warm and somewhat spicy odour, it blends well into compositions of the heavier oriental type. 
Acorus calamus oil causes increased dilation of spleenic vessels, an important factor in regulating blood pressure.
