DESCRIPTION:
HUAZHONG HZ-Ag30C is a modification of HZ-Ag35C with a further reduction in silver content resulting in a higher meltingpoint and a longer melting range (85°C). HZ-Ag30Cis used for brazing steel, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys,nickel, nickel alloys orcombinationsof these metals. While its performance is similar to HZ-Ag35C, its broader melting range is helpful where clearances are not uniform. During melting, HZ-Ag30C passes from a solid state toa mushy or plastic state and progressively to a liquid. If heated slowly through this plastic state (607-710°C), the liquid portion may flow from the solid portion. This causes a separation of the alloy into a low-temperaturemelting (fluid) portion and a high-temperature melting (solid) portion. This phenomenon is called liquation. Thehigh temperature melting portion will melt only above the normal brazing temperature of HZ-Ag30C. For thisreason,HZ-Ag30C should be heated rapidly through the melting range.
PROPERTIES OF BRAZED JOINTS:
Generally, the joint strength using HZ-Ag30C surpasses the strengths of the base metals. Strength is a function ofthe base metals being joined, type of joint, design of joint, joint clearances and brazing procedures. Therecommended maximum operating temperatures for HZ-Ag30C is up to 204°C(continuous service) and 315°C(intermittent service).
APPLICATIONS:
Typical applications are the joining ferrous, nonferrous and dissimilar metals and alloys with close joint clearances.
