The ZTE ZXSDR R8978 S2300 is an eight-path TD-LTE RRU with high power. It operates with a BBU to cover new outdoor sites.The eNodeB system that consists of a BBU and remote RRU(s) is widely deployed.

Unified Platform
Based on the unified SDR platform, the ZXSDR R8978 S2300 can smoothly evolve to future new technologies. It supports TD-LTE and provides smooth evolution to LTE-A. The ZXSDR R8978 S2300 satisfies a variety of network requirements and maximizes operators’ investments.
Environment-Friendly, High-Integration, and Flexible Layout
Multiple carriers of Band 40 (2300-2400 MHz) are supported to minimize the number of RRUs and facilitate hardware upgrade.
Multiple high-efficiency power amplifier technologies are used, including Crest Factor Reduction (CFR), Digital Pre-distortion (DPD) and Doherty, power amplifier voltage regulation, and smart timeslot energy saving, to greatly decrease equipment power consumption.
The equipment volume and efficiency are further optimized.

l Natural heat dissipation without any noise is provided. Compared with traditional air-conditioner cooling, 35% power consumption can be saved to minimize the operators’ power consumption cost.
l Timeslot energy saving and voltage regulation energy saving are provided to save power consumption.
Multi-Carrier, MIMO, BF, and High Performance
The four-carrier (TD-LTE 4x20 MHz) of Band 40 (2300-2400 MHz) is supported. Up to 80 MHz can be used to raise the spectrum usage of sites.
Carrier aggregation is provided to increate system capacity.
8-ANT beamforming and 4x4 MIMO are provided to optimize spectrum efficiency and promote user experience. High Output Power
Up to 160 W (8x20 W) output power is provided to satisfy the power requirements for high capacity and large coverage.
10 Gbps Optical Interface, and Easy Networking
Two 10 Gbps CPRI optical interfaces are provided to satisfy the TD-LTE CPRI flow requirement. CPRI optical interface multi-mode transmission is supported (the 6 Gbps optical interface rate is also supported).

Monitoring and management
The embedded filter as an independent module that can be returned to the vendor for replacement. Within the working frequency bands, a filter consistent with the operator's frequency band can be selected.
System Structure
An aluminum-alloy die-casting chassis with natural heat dissipation is used for the ZXSDR R8978 S2300, and the protection class is IP66. The chassis consists of a top chassis and a bottom chassis. Heat sinks are distributed on the chassis surface. The chassis surface is treated with conductive oxidation and covered with protection powder.
The external interfaces of the chassis are distributed in the side operation maintenance unit and at the chassis bottom. The side operation maintenance unit includes an embedded DC power interface, two optical interfaces (OPT1 and OPT2), and an LAM interface or a TST interface. The indicators and operation maintenance unit are located on the same side to easily observe the operational status of the ZXSDR R8978 S2300.
