Gallic acid is a white powdery solid. Melting point 252 °C (dec.)(lit.), boiling point 259.73°C (rough estimate), density 1.694, vapor pressure 0Pa at 25 °C, refractive index 1.5690 (estimate), storage conditions 2-8°C, solubility: Slightly soluble in methanol, slightly soluble in water when heated, soluble in hot water, ether, ethanol, acetone and glycerol, insoluble in cold water, insoluble in benzene and chloroform.

Product application
It can prepare pyrogallic acid, ink, medium dye and so on. It is also used as a developer and an analytical reagent for the detection of free inorganic acids, dihydroxyacetone, alkaloids and metals. As a chemical reagent Gallic acid has many uses in inks, dyes, food, light industry and organic synthesis. Gallic acid and ferric ion form blue-black precipitate, which is the raw material of blue-black ink; Also used in industry for leather; It can also be used as photographic developer.
