Octabenzone

UV absorber UV-531 is a light yellow crystal or white powder. Soluble in benzene, n-hexane, acetone, slightly soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in dichloroethane. Insoluble in water, soluble in acetone, benzene, ethanol. Melting point 47-49 °C(lit.), boiling point 424.46°C (rough estimate), density 1.160g/cm3, refractive index 1.6000 (estimate), flash point 102℃.

Ultraviolet absorber UV-531 is an excellent and efficient anti-aging agent, which can absorb 240-340 nm ultraviolet light, has the characteristics of light color, non-toxic, good compatibility, small migration and easy processing. It has the greatest protective effect on the polymer and helps to reduce color, while delaying yellowing and retarding the loss of physical properties. It is widely used in PE, PVC, PP, PS, PC, plexiglass, polypropylene fiber and vinyl acetate and other aspects. And for dry phenolic and alkyd varnishes, polyurethanes, acrylics, epoxies and other air drying products and automobile finishing paints, powder coatings, polyurethane, rubber products, etc., to provide them with good light stabilization effect. Used as light stabilizer for synthetic materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and polyurethane rubber.
