Certification Introduction:
The energy efficiency standard and labeling system began in 1992, and its legal basis is Article 15 "Provisions for the efficiency management of machinery and materials" and Article 16 "Subsequent management of energy efficiency of machinery and materials" in the Law on Rationalization of Energy Utilization. On June 16, 2010, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Korea promulgated Notice No. 2010-124 "Energy Efficiency Labeling and Standard Regulations", which stipulated new regulations on energy efficiency standards and labeling systems that Korean manufacturers and importers must abide by. Under the labelling system, products should be classified into grades 1-5 based on energy consumption or energy usage, and should comply with Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEPS). For products with excessive energy consumption and high penetration rate, an energy efficiency grade label of grade 1 to 5 should be affixed (see Figure 1). Grade 1 products are the most energy-saving products, while Grade 5 products have the worst energy-saving effect. In general, Grade 1 products save 30% to 50% more energy than Grade 5 products.
At the same time, it is forbidden to produce and sell products that do not reach the lowest efficiency. Standard product. In order to make it easier for consumers to purchase energy-efficient products, Korean manufacturers and foreign importers must fulfill the following three obligations: ① Indicate the energy efficiency grade (1~5) of the product according to the energy efficiency or energy usage of the product; ② The product has been tested After that, manufacturers or importers need to declare to KEMCO; ③ Prohibit production and sales of products that do not reach Level 5 (MEPS). The Energy Efficiency Standards and Labeling System implements the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEPS) for 35 products. If the products do not meet the MEPS (Level 5) and are produced or sold in Korea, the maximum fine can be 20 million won.
