Nord has designed a new type of frequency converter for horizontal conveying technology requirements, which includes two product series and is optimized for combination with Nord motors:

△ NORDAC ON+for efficient synchronous motor combinations
Both versions come in three specifications, with a power range of up to 2.2 kW. Both provide integrated Ethernet interfaces that allow for easy setting of the required communication protocols, whether it is ProfiNET, EtherNET IP, or EtherCAT. This makes NORDAC ON very suitable for integration into modern industrial IoT environments. In addition, the device also has a diagnostic interface, four digital inputs, and a protocol based encoder interface for use with NORDAC ON+, making it highly anti-interference.
An economical plug and play solution
Compact distributed frequency converters are very suitable for integration into conveyor systems, saving space and eliminating the need for a large number of motor cable wiring for centralized frequency converters. NORDAC ON has pluggable connections, providing an economical plug and play solution for postal, parcel, and warehousing applications.
Like other Nord frequency converters, NORDAC ON is equipped with a powerful PLC that can achieve close to driver functionality. It can process data from connected sensors and actuators, autonomously initiate control sequences, and transmit driver and application data to control centers, network components, or cloud storage. This enables continuous state monitoring and lays the foundation for predictive maintenance concepts and optimizing equipment size.
Also suitable for deep freezing applications and the food industry
NORDAC ON can also choose functional safety functions, such as STO and internal braking resistor function for dynamic start stop processes. When the frequency converter cannot be installed on the motor, it can be installed on the wall near the drive device, whether due to demand or space limitations.
The tolerance temperature range of NORDAC ON is -30 ℃ to+40 ℃, suitable for deep freezing applications, and corrosion-resistant nsd tupH surface treatment systems can also be selected for the food industry.

New Progress in Efficient Motors
In July 2021, according to the European Union's ecological design regulations, the minimum international energy efficiency standard IE3 covering most low-voltage motors was introduced. However, ABB has launched a combination of synchronous reluctance motors and frequency converters to meet the more stringent IE5 level.
Combining IE3 induction motors with frequency converters typically reduces energy costs by up to 25%. Upgrading this combination to an IE5 high energy efficiency synchronous reluctance motor and frequency converter combination can further save 3% -4% in energy costs, depending on the application and operating conditions.
Given that most of the motors currently installed in industry have a lifespan of over 10 years, upgrading them to an optimized combination of efficient motors and frequency converters will have significant energy-saving and efficiency enhancing effects. Reasonably estimated, global electricity consumption can be reduced by 10%, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Rapid cost recovery upgrades
For enterprises using motor driven equipment, upgrading to a combination of synchronous reluctance motors and frequency converters is reasonable from an energy-saving perspective. It is crucial that the purchase price of the motor is only a small part of its lifespan cost, as most of the cost comes from the energy required for its operation. The initial cost of purchasing a synchronous reluctance motor and frequency converter combination may be slightly higher than that of an IE3 motor and frequency converter combination, but the energy savings it saves typically make up for the difference in just one year. Afterwards, it will continue to generate annual savings for the next decade or more.
