German technical background VOK ®- Disper 168 Wetting Dispersant
VOK ®- Disper 168 is a wetting and dispersing agent for solvent and solvent-free radiation curing coatings, printing inks and adhesives.
Product Information
Chemical composition
Modified polyurethane solution
Typical Physicochemical Data
The data given in this data page are only typical values, not technical indicators of the product.
Amine value: 10.5 mg KOH/g
Density (20 ° C): 1.10 g/ml
Non volatile matter (20 minutes, 150 ° C): 30%
Solvent: dicarboxylic acid ester
Flash point: 100 ° C
Storage and transportation
Mix well before use. At temperatures below 5 ° C, delamination or turbidity may occur. Heat to 20 ° C and mix thoroughly before use.
Special reminder
The surface treatment of some organic pigments will have a bad effect on the performance of the additive. In this case, the same type of untreated pigment can be used.
application area
Coating industry
Features and Benefits
The additive makes the pigment deflocculate and stable through steric hindrance, and it also makes the pigment particles have the same charge. The resulting repulsive effect and steric stability prevent the pigment from co flocculation, thus obtaining the color without floating and blooming in the system containing multiple pigments.
The flocculating property of the additive can improve the luster, color strength, transparency and hiding power, and reduce the viscosity of the abrasive.
Recommended use
The additive is recommended for radiation curing industrial coatings, tin coatings and coil coatings.
Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Inorganic pigment: 10-15%
Titanium dioxide: 5-6%
Organic pigment: 30-90%
Carbon black: 70-140%
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
Adding method and processing guidance
In order to obtain good performance, additives must be added to the grinding material first, and then the pigment.
Premix the resin and solvent components in the abrasive, and then slowly add the auxiliary agent in the state of continuous stirring. Do not add pigments when the auxiliaries have not been completely dispersed evenly.

Recommended use
The additive is especially recommended for UV curing flexographic and lithographic printing inks to improve gloss and transparency. VOK ®- Disper 168 can also shorten dispersion time, reduce viscosity, and improve color intensity.
Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Titanium dioxide: 2.5-5%
Organic pigment, carbon black: 10-20%
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
