PVDF polyvinylidene difluoride, the appearance is translucent or white powder or particle, the molecular chain is closely arranged, and there are strong hydrogen bonds, the oxygen index is 46%, non-combustible, and the crystallinity is 65% to 78%. The density is 1.17~1.79g/cm3, the melting point is 172℃, the thermal deformation temperature is 112~145℃, and the long-term use temperature is -40 ~150℃.

PVDF is a semi-crystalline polymer with a crystallinity of about 50% under normal conditions. So far, there are five crystal forms, such as α, β, γ, δ and ε, which are formed under different conditions and can be converted into each other under certain conditions (heat, electric field, mechanical and radiation energy). Among these five crystal forms, β crystal form is the most important, and PVDF, which is used as a piezoelectric and pyroelectric application, mainly contains β crystal form.

The most common processes are emulsion polymerization and suspension polymerization.

PVDF resin mainly refers to the homopylidene fluoride or the copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and a small amount of other fluorinated vinyl monomers. It is the second largest product in fluorine plastics with an annual production capacity of more than 43,000 tons worldwide. PVDF applications are mainly concentrated in the three major fields of petrochemical, electronic and electrical, and fluorocarbonic coatings. Due to its good chemical resistance, workability, fatigue and creep resistance, PVDF is one of the best materials for pumps, valves, pipes, pipe fittings, storage tanks and heat exchang of petrochemical equipment fluid handling system as a whole or lining.


Its good chemical stability and electrical insulation performance make the equipment can meet the requirements of TOCS and flame retardant, and it is widely used in the storage and transportation of high-purity chemicals in the semiconductor industry. In recent years, porous membranes, gels and diaphragms made of PVDF resin are used in lithium secondary batteries. At present, this application becomes one of the fastest growing markets for PVDF demand. PVDF is one of the most important raw materials of fluorocarbon coatings. Fluorocarbon coatings prepared from PVDF as raw materials have been developed to the sixth generation. Because PVDF resin has super weather resistance, it can be used outdoors for a long time without maintenance, and this kind of coating is widely used in power stations, airports, highways, high-rise buildings, etc. At present in our country to vinylidene fluoride as fluorine monomer and other fluorine monomer copolymerization of coating with room temperature curing fluorocarbon resin has not yet appeared, in this respect has a huge development space. In addition, PVDF resin can also be modified by blending with other resins, such as PVDF and ABS resin to obtain composite materials, which have been widely used in architecture, automobile decoration, home appliance shell, etc.
