The Expert 2 C+ uses the technique laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), which has many similarities to spark OES. When a pulse of laser light is focused and projected onto the surface of the test sample, the generated excited plasma emits characteristic light radiation with a specific wavelength. LIBS uses sensitive spectrometer analysis to get the types and corresponding contents of elements in the material. LIBS technology does not require sampling and sample preparation, and its destructiveness on the sample surface is negligible. Due to the technical difficulty, only a few companies in the world can produce carbon measuring portable LIBS equipment.
