Coal slime dryer
Coal slime from post-flotation concentrate, coal washing process or coal mining processes are of great recycling value and also environmentally necessary for recycling. Coal slime drying may adopt several different types of dryers like rotary dryer, fluid-bed dryer,etc. according to the state of coal slime and drying requirement; of which rotary dryers are most commonly installed in practice due to its effectiveness in manufacturing and operation cost.
Our factory has a long history in design and build of specialized rotary dryers for processing coal slimes in coal preparation plants.
The slime drying system mainly consist of rotary shell, combustion system, seating rollers, special designed internal breaking &cleaning devices, shell sealing and transmission devices, etc.. Fuel is adjustable to match each individual installation condition. The unparalleled advantage of this system is that it has a unique internal structure that can effectively break up big lumps of sticky coal and clean sticky materials off the lifters, thus increase heat transfer efficiency and achieve designed requirements on moisture content and granule sizes.
Considering the nature of coal slime, this dryer is divided into four drying zones: the first zone is buffer zone where wet slime enters into the dryer and contact with the hot air evaporating at high rate; wet feed are moved to the second zone with big angle lifters before sticking. The second zone is self-cleaning zone where wet slime move in cascade motion and is prone to stick to the shell while falling down from lifters. Specially designed self-cleaning device is installed to remove the shell sticking, meanwhile big lumps of sticky material is also scattered by the cleaning devices, this further increase heat transfer. The third zone is tilt lifter zone where the coal slime is in loose state with low moisture content, which is not sticky anymore. The forth zone is output zone where material slide to the output along with rolling shell. There are no lifters in this zone.
Main features:
1. Designed with high torque, high overloading capacity, low operation cost.
2. Concurrent drying to avoid possibility of ignition, higher evaporation rate due to hot combustion air and wet coal lime entering from the same side, lower exhaust air temperature and higher heat efficiency.
3. Operating parameters are adjustable to varied state of coal slime to ensure constant and stable cascade motion of material and increase heat transfer.
4. Upgraded feeding and discharging system to avoid possibility of feed clogging, interruptions, non-uniformity or reverting, and thus load of dust removing system is less.
5. Specially designed flight and breaking system further enhances its self-cleaning and heat transfer capability and outcome shell sticking problem, thus could handle varied materials with varied moisture content and viscosity (highly adaptable to ….)
6. Output sizes and moisture is controllable according to each individual customer’s demand. Dried coal slime moisture can be less than 8% and size below 8mm.

The moisture content is very important in determining the usability of coal for further technological processing. In coal, the moisture may be present in the form of surface or hygroscopic moisture. Surface moisture is not dependent on the coal type because it depends on the classification and washing processes performed in the coal mine and on the soaking process during transport and storage. The evaporation of surface moisture takes place in the first drying period at a constant drying rate. Hygroscopic moisture depends on the rank of coal; it decreases with the age of coal. The evaporation of hygroscopic moisture takes place in the second drying period at a falling drying rate.
