Founded in July 2014, Gansu Alkog Sea-buckthorn Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. lies in Zhang County Industrial Park covering an area of 13500 m2. Seabuckthorn is a medicinal food containing vitamins, trace elements, amino acids and other biologically active substances. With a long history of more than two hundred million years on earth, this plant can survive in the harsh environment of the desert and alpine mountains. It is the only plant growing in the area of feldspathic sandstone called the cancer of the Earth, a plant growing in pollute-free environment and called the VC King in the world of plants. It is the most ecologically valuable in the large-scale development of the western region in China. It is recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia and pharmacopoeias in other parts of the world, and recognized as a medicinal and edible plant by the China’s Ministry of Health.

The fruit contains vitamins, malic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, chlorogenic acid, p-coumaric acid, 3,4-dihydroxy-benzoic acid. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) up to 2756 enzyme units / g is in the fruit and SOD1028 enzyme units / g in leaves, but SOD is not significantly different in fresh and dried leaves. More than 200 kinds of volatile oil components have identified in H. Rhamnoides L. subsp. Sinensis Rousi, Davurian Buckthorn and H.neurocarpa S.W.Liu et T.N.He.
