Guarana is a fruit, a vine with compound leaves and flowers in bunches. Its fruit (capsule) is small, red and contains a seed inside. It is a shrub native to the Amazon, found in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. Its scientific name is Paullinia cupana and belongs to the Sapindaceae family, the genus was named Paul linia by Carolus Linnaeus in honor of Simon Paulli, a German physician and botanist.
Guarana plays an important role in the culture of the Brazilian Tupi Guarani, the name is a derivative of the word "Waran" in Tupi-Guarani means "fruit like the eyes of the people", these tribes believed that the fruit was magic to cure intestinal diseases and a way to regain strength.

Originally from the Amazonia, found in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela.

COMPOSITION:
Guarana contains a high proportion of starch (60%), tannins catechists (up to 12%), 6% catechin, 3% (-) epicatechin, and proanthocyanidins, catechins, resin, and as active saponosides between 3 and 5 % caffeine or 1, 3, 7 trimethyl xanthine, accompanied by trace amounts of theophylline and theobromine, methylbenzene, cyclic monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, metoxifenilpropenos, alkyl derivatives, estragol and anethole.
