Introduction

 Thermosetting polyurethane elastomer(PU for short),Cast polyurethane,commonly called urethane , 

a new composite material between plastic and rubber ,is formed after chemical reaction of polymer 

polyalcohol and isocyanate through chain extension and cross linkage ,it is divided into polyether and

 polyester according to its backbone chain.

1.Abrasion resistance
Polyurethanes has high abrasion resistance than other material such as (rubber, plastics and metal)  when 

severe abrasion is a factor. 

2,Load bearing capacity
 Because of this characteristic Polyurethane has a higher load-bearing capacity than any conventional rubber.

it is an ideal material for load wheels, heavy duty couplings, metal-forming pads, shock pads, and so on.

3.Heat and cold resistance
Continuous use above 225 degree is not recommended nor is urethane recommended in hot water over 

175. At low temperatures, polyurethane will remain flexible down to -90 degree. A gradual stiffening will 

occur at 0 degree, but will not become pronounced until much lower temperatures are reached.

4.Oil and solvent resistance
Polyurethane has excellent resistance to oils, solvents, fats, greases and gasoline.

6.Tear resistance
The tear-strengths of various Polyurethanes range from 100 to 1000 lbs./linear inch, which is far superior to rubbers. 

As a result, urethane is often used as drive belts, diaphragms, roll covers, cutting pads, gaskets and chute liners.
