1. Introduction
IMU5220 is a reliable solid inertial measurement unit.Built-in triaxial silicon gyroscope,
triaxial silicon accelerometer and GPS receiver, and through three-axis turntable precised
calibration to meet the performance requirements of different conditions. Data fusion to be
realized through the built-in DSP extend Kalman filtering , can give real-time, accurate carrier
posture and sensor data .

2 ) Accurate calibration of the gyroscope zero, zero temperature coefficient, sensitivity,
temperature coefficient of sensitivity, orthogonality error and the acceleration
effect ,accelerometer zero, zero temperature coefficient, sensitivity, temperature sensitivity
coefficient and the orthogonality of the error.
3) 500Hz Rapid calculation, high speed sampling to ensure movement detail calculation,
restrain aliasing, improve signal-to-noise ratio.
4) The highest rate of packets is250Hz,RS232 interface .
5) Low power consumption:Typical 0.07A (12V).
4. Use and installation instruction
1) The power should be 5 to 13VDC, ripple < 50 mv, current at least 0.5 A, if the power
supply noise is bigger and power supply circuit is longer, please use the filter or external
voltage regulator.
2) IMU use M3 cup head screws on the carrier, the loose will affect the accuracy of
measurement in the process of operation.
3) Advise IMU to be placed static when first power on within 30 seconds , complete
self-inspection and initial alignment process. If carrier has any movement when first power on ,
will delay the time of initial alignment convergence .
4) If possible, try to install in the vehicle center of gravity or near the center of gravity position.
5) Try to avoid violent vibration, temperature change (e.g., installed beside the engine), when it
is necessary to use shock absorbers.
6) As far as possible aim at IMU coordinate axis and the carrier coordinate axis.
5. Working mode and packet format
IMU5220 Working mode :GPS assist vertical gyro mode( VG). Output Roll angle ,pitch
angle, Kalman filtering revised gyroscope angular velocity and acceleration.
