The colloid mill is useful for milling , dispersing, homogenizing and breaking down of agglomerates in the manufacture of  pastes, emulsions, grease etc etc. The main function of the colloid mill is to ensure a breakdown of agglomerates or in the case of emulsions to produce droplets of fine size around 1 micron . The material to be processed is fed by gravity to the hopper or pumped so as to pass between the rotor & stator elements where it is subjected to high shearing & hydraulic forces. Material is discharged through a hopper whereby it can be recirculated for a second pass. For materials having higher solid & fibre contents conical grooved discs are preferred. Cooling & heating jacket arrangements are provided as a standard feature on both these mills.

CONSTRUCTIONAND WORKING PRINCIPAL: Colloid    Mill  suitable   for  fine   grinding,    dispersing    and homogenizing   in  a  single operation. The mill consists of   a   S.S  304 single  piece cast body inside which is fitted the hardened stainless steel  Rotor  and  Stator   grinding  elements. The material is  fed  through  a S.S. 304 Hopper  and is forced between the Rotor and Stator where it  is sheared,  dispersed, mixed and homogenized. The rate and degree   of  the  above   process  can be finely controlled  during operation   by  adjusting the  gap between the Rotor & Stator by means of a gap adjusting  hand lever.    The  mill is mounted on a sturdy base frame and  can  be installed without foundation  bolts if desired. All rotating parts are balanced and  well lubricated for trouble free operation. The shaft is installed in a leak proof  housing  complete with bearings. ~O~  rings and  Oil  seals.  The motor  provided is of 3 Ph TEFC, 460 V 2800 RPM. The  mill  is  provided with one set of S.S. 304 grinding elements  or  one set of corundum stone  grinding wheels as may be required.

COOLING ARRANGEMENT. A  SS  304 jacket complete with inlet and outlet connections is provided to cool the grinding chamber which subsequently cools the product.

 

OPTIONAL: RECIRCULATING SYSTEM .A  pipe  line  system in SS 304 can be  provided  to  recirculate  the material.
