Masterbatch is a solid or liquid additive for plastic used for coloring plastics (color masterbatch) or imparting other properties to plastics (additive masterbatch). Masterbatch is a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or additives encapsulated during a heat process into a carrier resin which is then cooled and cut into a granular shape. Masterbatch allows the processor to colour raw polymer economically during the plastics manufacturing process.
1. Black masterbatch
A. This is a black pigment based on polymer concentrate with different content of soot (20% - 50%). Provide rich black colour and improve UV- resistance, without contamination by dust with good dispersion which is essential for maximum opacity and good UV- stabilization. |
B. Black masterbatches may have glossy or mat surfaces. All of them are good distributed and adapted to a variety of polymers have good resistance (light, humidity, etc.). |
C. Other advantages using black masterbatches are increased fixation, increased quality of weld and seal affixed. There are marks of black masterbatches in which improve the efficiency of micronized hydrophobic chalk. |
D. Our black masterbatches has internals like: high dispersion, maximum UV- resistance, approved for food contact, also they have a high resistance. |
E. Black masterbatches are used in: flat film extrusion; extrusion blow moulding (1 - and multi-layer); lamination; manufacture of sheet and tube extrusion; injection moulding; blow moulding; staining of fibres; |
2. White Masterbatch
A.The Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) in polymer basis (PE, PS, PET) with different filling 30%-75 %. The concentrate is a comfortable method allows add TiO2 to polymer, yielding a white colour, without contamination by dust. They have perfect dispersion and optimized flow properties, resulting to maximum hiding power and easy processing. |
B. Titanium Dioxide used in all white masterbatches, provides a high level of opacity, colouring strength, good dispersion and excellent UV – stability. Some brands may have a milky or bluish white undertone. There are white masterbatches types which contain a combination of TiO2 with other white pigments an optimized cost/performance. |
C. We always have 8 -10 white masterbatches from the most famous manufacturers, which contain are till 75% - Titanium Dioxide. Base - polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Wide price category. |
3. CaCO3 Filler Masterbatch
-Modify physical property of plastics, act as plastical modifier.
-Replace petroleum resource, reduce production cost. Environmentally friendly.
-Improve printability, smoothness, hardness, stiffness, anti-block...
Calcium Carbonate PE Masterbatch: used for LDPE/LLDPE/HDPE film blowing/casting, HDPE sheet extrusion, HDPE pipe extrusion, HDPE bottle blowing..., one of additives modifying polyethylene/polythene/polyolefin resin.
Processed by the four paddle rotor internal batch mixer or twin screw extruder.
Calcium carbonate masterbatch for transparent HDPE film is available now. Adding by 5-10%, transparency becomes better in some cases; adding by 10-30%, transparency is still good enough. It's also good for LDPE film, HDPE pipe and PP sheet, which are transparent, but not very transparent.

5. Functional Masterbatch
Flame Retardants MB Anti-Block MB
Desiccant Mastebatch | A. Used to manufacture products from recycled polymeric materials. It absorbs moisture out of the plastic material. Concentrate gives an opportunity make dry materials even when moisture is inside the pellets (in this case, the raw material cannot be dried in the usual way).
B. Purpose - optimization of polymer extrusion process: reduces or eliminates product defects (especially in film producing process – reduce extruder torque moment), allows to recycle especially viscous polymers, which recycling is impossible with existing equipment.
C. Used to produce films with containing of HDPE, LDPE polymers, PP pipe extrusion, production equipment; to avoid sediments; also in PP extrusion (tissue or polyolefin cable) to reduce sediments and improve the product surface quality.
|
Retardants Masterbatch | A. Most polymers are flammable. In purpose to respond the fire safety rules, the polymer includes flame retardants to slow the spread of fire and fits the fire resistance requirements. Polymer manufacturers also use flame retardants in their production process.
B. Usage of retardants helps to solve many production problems: - manufacturing bulky products without deformation; - manufacturing products of different thicknesses and the hardness edge;
|
Antistatic Masterbatch | A. Provides antistatic properties, eliminates static electricity, common to all polymers. During processing and exploitation of polymer products these additives appear on the surface and accumulate electric charge.
B. Various antistatic surface-active substances are blending into polymer products they reduce the surface resistance. Structure of these materials has duplicate contacts.
C. Antistatic input does not exceed 2%. Antistatic properties are divided into internal (the antistatic is introduced into polymer with other additives) and external (antistatic lubricates to surface of the product).
|
Slip and Anti-Block Masterbatch | A. It is used to prevent blocking of plastic film rolls. Recommended use if not only good slip properties (low coefficient of friction) are required, but increased adhesion strength of polyethylene film roll as well.
B. Recommended use then recycling temperature is up to 230 degrees. Input rate: 0.5% - 2% depending on the desired effect. |
Increase Transparency Masterbatch | A. Especially apply to Polypropylene Resin, can improve the Transparency of Resin and Mechanical Properties. The masterbatch is used as injection molding, blow molding and extrusion forming of diaphragm material.
B. Perfectly apply to Household Appliances, LED Lights as to Anti-reflection.
C. High Efficient, just add 3%~4%. |
The process of color matching with relevant carrier compoud:
Processing of masterbatch
The processing of masterbatch makes great demands on the compounding process: The pigment and additive parts must be mixed into the base polymer absolutely homogeneously. The co-rotating twin screw extruders from Coperion, formerly Werner & Pfleiderer, are particularly suitable for the processing of masterbatch because of their excellent mixing properties and gentle product handling.
Why Use Masterbatches?
Improved Properties – Good dispersion is the key to maximum performance. The ingredients in our masterbatches are pre-dispersed and thoroughly mixed with the carrier resin. This results in improved physical properties. In many cases, this results in lower loadings when compared to free powders.
Cleaner, Improved Material Handling – Using masterbatches rather than dry powders means a cleaner plant with minimal housekeeping effort. Dust exposure is greatly reduced with masterbatches, as material handling is simplified with free- flowing, non-bridging materials that can be transferred easily with pneumatic conveyors.
More Efficient Production – Masterbatches increase efficiency through higher production rates, less power consumption, higher yields and less abrasion and equipment wear.
Safer – Using our masterbatches eliminates employee exposure hazards associated with some powders and liquids. Your employees can focus on your end product.
