Electroluminescent devices (EL), its working principle can be described as follows: First, inorganic
photoelectric materials such as particles of zinc sulfide are activated in the AC electric field driving by
AC voltage adding sandwiched between the poles. Second, the accelerated electrons within the
light-emitting layer (inorganic photoelectric materials) move at high speed to activate the atoms,
which are accelerated and gain enough energy. Third, the electrons excited by electric field will crash
the luminescence centers and fluorescence material, leading to the emitting of a kind of luminescence
with a high efficient, which results from the process of electron transition: leap-change recombination.
This is a physical phenomenon, namely electric excitation light phenomenon.
Technology
We use our modified flexible cyanoresin material as a binder, which is of high-performance,low-cost and soluble in acetone, g - butyrolactone, DMF, DMSO and other organic solvents. Its performance is
superior to the similar products on the market. This modified cyanoresin has a high dielectric property
and its ionic conductivity is enhanced as high as 2.4 x 10-3 S/cm when used as gel electrolyte. In the
organic-inorganic EL devices, its solubility in the organic solvents,elasticity and film forming ability can
be used totally.
The structure of EL panel is shown in figure 1, which thickness is about 0.2-0.5 mm, and it’s composed
by an insulating substrate coated (by screen printing) the electroluminescent materials and two layers
of electrodes, between which the insulating substrate is sandwiched. The brightness and color of the
light can be adjusted through the various luminescent materials, such as zinc sulfide and so on, and the
mixture of other activator, or fluorescent stain, etc. The frequency of AC electric field also can change the
color of the emitting light: the increase of the frequency will make the light shift towards the blue (short
wave) direction, and the decrease of the frequency will lead to the green (long wave) one. The original
color of the emitting light of the EL panel is generally for the green or turquoise at the voltage of 115V /400 Hz.
EL panel has a strong flexibility and the luminescence performance cannot be affected by bending except
wrecking the electrodes. Moreover, compared to the LED for point-source of light, EL panel can realize the
uniform surface light-emitting without guide plate and diffuser. In addition, EL electroluminescent system
has a lower power consumption.Although the EL panel needs to be driven by a higher voltage, the loading
current is very small, about 0.03 ~ 1 mA/cm2. Generally, as the area of EL panel is less than 10 cm2, only
a few mA working current is needed. However, 5 ~ 10 mA working current is needed just for one LED light,
so lower current is meaningful to the equipment driving by amount of battery power, and low power consumption
is considerable significance. From the view of electrical properties, EL panel can be considered to be a
container, and the capacitance is usually 2 ~ 6 nF/in2 (the better quality of EL panel, the smaller values of
the characteristic parameter of capacitance). The resistance value is usually 50 ~ 15000 k/in2, the driving
area and the maximum light intensity driven by the same driver is different due to the diversity of different
EL panels.
