cast iron teapot 1000ml

Sakura Cast Iron Teapot 1000ml

Instruction:

Tetsubin is made of heavy cast iron, and it is considered the best teapot to heat water for tea, because it heats evenly, retains heat well and lasts forever. It yields important health benefits, too; iron-deficient diets are all too common these days and food or liquid cooked in cast iron ware provides significant traces of this essential mineral. The Japanese have used Tetsubin teapots for centuries to brew their finest teas & add artistic elegance to their household.

It is suitable for electric fire, gas stove, induction cooker and charcoal fire.

How to Use & Care For Your New Tetsubin Cast Iron Teapot

Before first use, rinse your teapot several times with boiling water. But no soap!

1. To brew a pot of tea, preheat your teapot by pouring boiling water in the pot and swirling it around. Discard this water.

2. Add your tea leaves to the pot; either into the mesh basket that came with your teapot or directly into the pot itself.

3. Pour the hot to boiling water over the leaves and allow to steep for the desired amount of time. Usually 30 seconds to 2 minutes for green, 3 to 5 minutes for black and anywhere from 2 to 7 minutes for oolong depending on the size and type of tea leaf (follow tea suppliers recommendations on your first infusion then adjust to your taste).

4. Remove the infuser basket containing the leaves as soon as your tea is through steeping or decant all of the brewed tea into another vessel if no strainer was used. Do not allow tea leaves to remain in the water or the tea leaves and the remaining brewed tea will be ruined. Depending on the tea, you might enjoy infusing the leaves multiple times.

5. When finished brewing in your Tetsubin teapot, simply wipe the teapot with a dry towel, both inside and out. Try to do this while the pot is still warm. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR TEAPOT IS DRY. Rust will form if the teapot is not completely dry, both inside and out.

Never use soap to clean any teapot. Tea residue will build up over time but is not harmful in any way. Be sure to allow the teapot to completely dry after each use. Also, avoid contact with oil and salt.

Please take GREAT care if you decide to use your Tetsubin teapot on a stovetop. Under no condition should you allow the teapot to boil dry. The enamel will be ruined. We do not recommend Tetsubin teapots for stove use, the porcelain lining is fragile and could be damaged. If your teapot rusts, either inside or out, use fine steel wool to remove it then rinse and dry thoroughly. Always be sure your teapot is dried after every use.
