On October 11, 2024, Canada (ISED) officially released a new standard for radio local area network equipment - RSS-248 Issue 3, the full name of which is "Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) Equipment Operating in the 5925-7125 MHz Frequency Band". This update will replace the second edition released on December 20, 2022, and will take effect on October 11, 2024, with a mandatory date of April 11, 2025. The highlights of this update are: Introduced a new equipment category - very low power equipment;Added definitions, power limits and operating requirements for this new category; The new standard also includes a series of editorial changes and clarifications to improve the readability and understandability of the standard.The release of RSS-248 Issue 3 is intended to adapt to the latest developments in wireless communication technology while ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the equipment during operation. New requirements are imposed on manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers. Manufacturers need to ensure that their products comply with the new technical specifications and remain safe and compliant throughout the product's life cycle.
