Wireline drill tools refer to a type of drilling equipment that is capable of lifting drill core from drill rods without having to pick up bits. These tools consist of several integral components such as the overshot assembly, drill rods, holding dog, and circle wrench. The advantages of using these tools include higher penetration rates, increased core recovery ratios, longer bit life, and reduced operator fatigue. These benefits become more apparent as the depth of the drilling hole increases.
The double tube wireline core barrel is a specialized tool that can be converted into a triple tube core barrel by adding a split steel tube inside the inner tube. This split steel tube can be pumped out using a piston and pump-out adaptor when it becomes full of rock core. The stop ring, core lifter case, and core lifter also differ from those of a standard double tube core barrel, as they are slightly smaller in diameter to accommodate the smaller core.
