Refined adsorbent magnesium aluminum silicate (general formula: [MX2+My3+An-(OH)n]·mH2O, is white spherical particles or powder with porous structure and good fluidity. It is a solid amphoteric compound. This product can remove acid, odour, and colour, adsorb potassium and sodium ions, and filter media. As a polyether refined adsorbent, it exhibits excellent adsorption and decolorization performance. It is used in the last section in the polyether polyols production process.

Production application: the crude polyether polyol was put into the neutralization kettle. A small amount of pure water is added at a certain temperature. the neutralization reaction was carried out after stirring. The solution is controlled to a given pH value. Magnesium aluminum silicate is added at the same temperature. The solution is kept at the temperature for 1.5~2 h before vacuum distillation for dehydration. A filtration cycle doesn’t begin until the water content reaches a given value. The K+(Na+) ion content of the solution is determined until it reaches a given value. The solution is filtered immediately, and the filtrate is clear and transparent polyether.
