Graphene material produced starting from GO with chemical reduction process to removal the oxygen-containing functional groups, will be called reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The rGO powder is obtained by vacuum freeze-dried process. In some applications, GO to rGO’s reduction is done during the material composite process.First, using GO's good surface wettability for dispersion, then in-situ reduction is carried out to achieve the composite of different materials. RGO’s surface defect site is relatively lesser than GO and it is more close to single-layer graphene in structure and property.

A: rGO is produced by GO after reduction.The chemical reduction process produced rGO powder compare with physical method produced graphene nanoplatelets, still keep two defects: one is residual oxygen-containing functional groups,hydroxyl and carboxyl groups can be effectively reduced, but carbonyl groups are difficult to be reduced; the other one is the hole, during the process of rGO powder,the oxidation and washing stage will lead to the loss of carbon skeleton and the formation of holes in the lamellar layer, which can not be repaired during reduction.
Q: What types of graphene materials are there?
A: According to the different preparation processes, graphene materials can be divided into two categories: graphene oxide and graphene, and graphene can be divided into graphene nanoplatelets prepared by physical method, usually denoted by GNP, and reduced graphene oxide prepared by chemical reduction process, usually denoted by rGO, according to the different preparation processes.
Q: What are the different conditions of use for these three types of graphene products?
A: GO has better hydrophilicity and can be stably dispersed in water without adding any additives, but some lattice defects are introduced in the process of oxidative intercalation, so GO is almost non-conductive; GNP has a complete lattice and better electrical conductivity, but GNP is highly hydrophobic and extremely difficult to be dispersed without dispersing additives and the number of layers is higher than that of graphene oxide.The conductivity and dispersibility of rGO is between GO and GNP, and it is necessary to add appropriate amount of dispersing additives in the process of using.
Q:How to disperse the graphene powder?
A:Through simple ultrasonic treatment, the rGO powder can be dispersed in agents such as water, ethanol, acetic acid, DMF, NMP, etc
Q:How to do if graphene powder dispersion effect is not so good?
A:A small amount of sodium cholate surfactant can be added to the dispersion system to reduce the surface tension of graphene and enhance its dispersion effect
Q: What is the particle size of rGO?
A: At present, the particle size of our rGO with chemical reduction process is less than 5μm, the physical method produced graphene nanoplatelet is 7~12μm , please contact us for customization if you need other size.
Q:How to store graphene powder?
A: It is recommended to keep it in ventilated, cool and dry environment, and store it separately from strong oxidizers and flammable materials. Long time storage will lead to powder absorb moisture easily, which can be dried in low temperature before use.
