Rubber dam, also known as rubber sluice, is a bag type retaining dam formed by using
high-strength synthetic fiber fabric as the stress skeleton, coating rubber inside and outside as the protective layer, processing it into adhesive tape, anchoring it on the bottom plate into a closed dam bag, and expanding it with water (gas) through the filling and discharging pipeline. The dam crest can overflow, and the dam height can be adjusted as required to control the upstream water level, so as to give full play to the benefits of irrigation, power generation, shipping, flood control, tide retaining and so on.
Type:
Rubber dam can be divided into water filled type and air filled type; pillow type, ramped type;one fabric with two rubber
layers, three fabric with four rubber layers, customized. The rubber material can be natural rubber or neoprene rubber.
The filling and drainage time of water filling dam is longer than that of air filling dam. In terms of cost, there is little difference between the two dam types. The operation condition of rubber dam is similar to that of sluice, and has the following
characteristics compared with conventional sluice dam:
First, the cost is low. It can reduce investment by 30% ~ 70%, save steel by 30% ~ 50%, cement by about 50% and wood by more than 60%.
Second, the construction period is short. The dam bag can be installed in only 3 ~ 15 days, and most rubber dam projects benefit
from the construction in the same year.
Third, the dam body is a flexible soft shell structure, which can resist the impact of earthquake and wave, with good water stop
effect, large span and no water blocking in flood season. It can be used for urban landscaping.
Fourth, less maintenance and convenient management. The service life of rubber dam bag is generally 15 ~ 25 years.
Structure:
The rubber dam is mainly composed of civil engineering, dam bag and anchor, filling and drainage water (air) facilities and
control system.
