The adsorption of the colloid reduces the supersaturation of PbSO4 and creates loose porosity.

Inside the colloidal battery, the formation of a dense crystalline layer of PbSO4 is delayed and its coverage on the surface of the negative plate improves the battery's excellent performance even in low temperature environments. In addition, it reduces the current density, obtains lead dioxide with strong bonding, delays the softening of the electrode plate and improves the deep cycling capability of the cell.
