Polyethylene terephthalate is also commonly known as polyester resin. It is a polycondensation of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol, and together with PBT is collectively known as thermoplastic polyester, or saturated polyester
The molecular structure of PET plastic is highly symmetrical and has certain crystallization orientation ability, so it has high film formation and formation. PET plastic has good optical properties and weather resistance, and amorphous PET plastic has good optical transparency. In addition, PET plastic has excellent wear resistance and friction, dimensional stability and electrical insulation. PET bottles have high strength, good transparency, non-toxic, anti-penetration, light quality, high production efficiency and thus have been widely used. The molecular chain structure of PBT and PET is similar, and most of the properties are the same, but the molecular backbone is changed from two methylene groups to four, so the molecules are more compliant and the processing performance is better.
PET is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, good friction resistance, small wear and high hardness, with the largest toughness in thermoplastics; The electrical insulation performance is good, which is less affected by temperature, but the corona resistance is poor. Non-toxic, weather resistance, good stability of chemical resistance, low water absorption, weak acid and organic solvent resistance, but not hot water immersion, alkali resistance.
The glass transition temperature of PET resin is high, the crystallization speed is slow, the molding cycle is long, the molding cycle is long, the molding shrinkage rate is large, the size stability is poor, the crystallization molding is brittle, and the heat resistance is low.
Through the improvement of nucleating agents and crystallization agents and glass fiber reinforcement, PET has the following characteristics in addition to the properties of PBT:
1. Thermal deformation temperature and long-term use temperature are the highest thermoplastic general engineering plastics;
2. Because of high heat resistance, enhanced PET is immersed in a solder bath at 250℃ for 10s, almost no deformation and no color change, especially suitable for the preparation of electronic and electrical parts of tin welding;
3. The bending strength is 200MPa, the elastic modulus is 4000MPa, the creep resistance and fatigue resistance are also very good, the surface hardness is high, and the mechanical properties are similar to thermosetting plastics.
4. Because the price of ethylene glycol used in the production of PET is almost half cheaper than that of butanediol used in the production of PBT, PET resin and reinforced PET are the lowest prices in engineering plastics and have a high cost performance ratio.
Use
1. Film sheet: all kinds of food, medicine, non-toxic and sterile packaging materials; High-grade packaging materials for textiles, precision instruments and electrical components; Tapes, video tapes, film, computer floppy disks, metal coating and photographic film substrates; Electrical insulation materials, capacitor film, flexible printed circuit board and film switch and other electronic fields and mechanical fields.
2. Application of packaging bottle: its application has been developed from the original carbonated beverage to the current beer bottle, edible oil bottle, condiment bottle, medicine bottle, cosmetics bottle, etc.
3. Electronic appliances: manufacturing connectors, coil winding tubes, integrated circuit shells, capacitor shells, transformer shells, TV accessories, tuners, switches, timer shells, automatic fuses, motor brackets and relays, etc.
4. Auto parts: such as distribution panel cover, ignition coil, all kinds of valves, exhaust parts, distribution cover, measuring instrument cover, small motor cover, etc., can also use PET excellent coating, surface gloss and rigidity to manufacture automobile exterior parts.
5. Mechanical equipment: manufacturing gears, cams, pump housing, pulley, motor frame and clock parts, can also be used as microwave oven baking tray, various ceilings, outdoor billboards and models. .
6. The molding process of PET plastic can be injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, coating, bonding, machining, electroplating, vacuum plating and printing.
The performance of the PET
(1) The general performance of PET resin is milky translucent or colorless transparent body, the relative density is 1.38, and the transmittance is 90%. PET is a medium barrier material with a transmission coefficient of 50 ~ 90cm3·mm/(m2·d·MPa) to O2 and 180cm3·mm/(m2·d·MPa) to CO2. The water absorption rate of PET is 0.6%, and the water absorption is large
(2) Mechanical properties The tensile strength of PET film is very high, comparable to that of aluminum foil, 9 times that of HDPE film, 3 times that of PC and PA film. Enhanced PET has low creep, excellent fatigue resistance (better than enhanced PC and PA), good wear resistance and friction resistance. The mechanical properties of PET are less affected by temperature.
(3) Thermal properties The heat resistance of pure PET plastic is not high, but it is greatly improved after enhanced treatment. The mechanical properties at 180 ° C are better than PF laminate, which is a better variety of heat resistance in enhanced thermoplastic engineering plastics. PET has good thermal aging resistance, embrittance temperature of -70 ° C, and still has certain toughness at -30 ° C. PET is not easy to burn, and the flame is yellow and dripping.
(4) Electrical properties Although PET is a polar polymer, it has excellent electrical insulation and can still be well maintained at high frequency. PET has poor corona resistance and cannot be used for high voltage insulation. Electrical insulation is affected by temperature and humidity, and humidity has a greater impact.
(5) Environmental performance PET contains ester bonds and is not resistant to water, acid, and alkali under the condition of high temperature and water vapor. PET is stable to organic solvents such as acetone, benzene, toluene, trichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride and oils, and also has high resistance to some oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite and potassium dichromate. PET has excellent weather resistance and can be used outdoors for a long time.
