Copper-nickel alloys are often referred to as cupronickel. Pure copper plus nickel can significantly improve strength, corrosion resistance, electrical resistance, and thermoelectricity. It is mainly used in seawater desalination and seawater heat exchange systems, automobile manufacturing, the shipbuilding industry, coins, resistance wires, and thermocouples. According to different performance characteristics and uses, industrial cupronickel is divided into two types: structural cupronickel and electrical cupronickel, which respectively meet various corrosion resistance and special electrical and thermal properties.
Among them, the most widely used iron white copper is C70600 and C71500. C71500 alloy has the advantages of good seawater erosion-corrosion resistance, high heat transfer coefficient, excellent mechanical/welding performance, and inhibition of marine microorganism adhesion. Roads, heat exchangers in power plants, condensers in coastal nuclear power plants, and brine heaters in multi-stage flash devices for seawater desalination. At the same time, C71500 alloy has higher strength and is also used in high-strength structural parts such as shafts, fasteners, valve stems, and flanges of some marine installations.
