What is LNG

LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas.

It is a hydrocarbon that is produced in mines when crude oil is extracted. In the past, it could not be transported across oceans, so it could only be used locally, and if there was any surplus it had to be burned and scrapped. Depending on its state of deposit, it can be divided into three types: tectonic gas, water-soluble gas and coal mine gas. Structural gas can be divided into wet gas, which is produced with crude oil, and dry gas, which contains no liquid content. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas produced in mines that is frozen to -162°C, making it a colourless, odourless liquid that is reduced to around one sixtieth of its gaseous form for storage and transport across oceans. Once liquefied, the gas must be transported by special refrigerated vessel to a receiving station and then to a cryogenic storage tank for storage. When in use, the liquid gas is converted to a normal temperature gas and then transported via long distance pipelines to power plants, factories and domestic customers.

LNG features

High energy efficiency and ease of transport and storage

Low temperature, high gas-to-liquid expansion ratio, high energy efficiency and ease of transport and storage. 1 standard cubic metre of natural gas has a thermal mass of approximately 9,300 kcal and 1 tonne of LNG can produce 1,440 standard cubic metres of natural gas and 8,300 kWh of electricity.

Clean energy

The sulphur content of LNG is extremely low, if all 2.6 million tonnes/year of LNG were used for power generation and coal combustion (lignite) it would reduce SO2 emissions by approximately 450,000 tonnes (roughly twice the annual SO2 emissions in Fujian) and would prevent the expansion of acid rain trends. NOX and CO2 emissions from natural gas-fired power generation are only 20% and 50% of those from coal-fired power plants.

High safety performance

High ignition point - spontaneous combustion temperature of approx. 590°C. Narrower combustion range (5%-15%), lighter than air, easy to diffuse.

LNG filling station function

Natural gas refuelling stations are places to refuel Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) that look similar to those for diesel or gasoline. The refueling process of natural gas depends on whether compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) is being used.

LNG stations are structurally similar to gasoline and diesel stations in that they have a storage tank, meters, and dispenser. LNG dispensers deliver fuel to vehicles at pressures of 300Nm3/h / 1.6Mpa.

LNG filling station component

OFFLOAD PUMP SKID

Used to pump the LNG out of the trailer at 18m3/h; offload time is between 1.5 to 2 hours.

LNG STORAGE TANK

cryogenic storage tank for LNG, Above ground storage with a recommended volume; other capacities available.

FAST-FUEL LNG DISPENSER

Single hose 1or 2 dispenser with flow rates

TIME-FILL POST

A hose at a parking stall connected to a common supply.

PROCESS SKID

Used for dispensing and saturation operations.

PLC control system

Complete PLC control system supporting remote access
