How does your braking system work?
When you apply pressure to your car's brake pedal, the brake fluid pressurizes the caliper pistons on the hub of each wheel. This forces the brake pads to press against the sides of the brake disc, which turns with the wheel. This friction can slow down the car and eventually bring it to a stop.
Over time, brake pads wear out and need to be replaced, so it is very dangerous to continue driving with worn pads. There are a few signs of brake pad wear: uneven wear can cause the car to swerve abruptly when braking, or it can be indicated by creaking and reduced braking force.
