LDPE Low Density Polyethylene
LDPE Raw Material
LDPE Raw Material(low density polyethylene) is a soft, flexible, lightweight plastic material. LDPE is noted for its low temperature flexibility, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It is not suited for applications where stiffness, high temperature resistance and structural strength are required. LDPE is often used for orthotics and prosthetics. It has good chemical and impact resistance and is easy to fabricate and form. LDPE Raw Material has an excellent resistance to acids, bases and vegetable oils. Its toughness, flexibility and relative transparency make it good for packaging applications requiring heat-sealing.
LDPE Raw Material is used to make many thin, flexible products like plastic bags for dry-cleaning, newspapers, bread, frozen foods, fresh produce and garbage. Most shrink-wrap and stretch film is also made out of LDPE, as well as coatings for paper milk cartons and disposable beverage cups. Manufacturers also use LDPE to create thin container lids, squeezable bottles and some toys.

Applications Of LDPE Raw Material:
LDPE Raw Material is principally used for making films. It is widely used in the production of agricultural film (mulching film and shed film),packaging film (for use in packing candies, vegetables and frozen food), blown film for packaging liquid (for use in packaging milk, soy sauce, juice, bean curds and soy milk), heavy-duty packaging bags, shrinkage packaging film, elastic film, lining film, building-use film, general-purpose industrial packaging film and food bags. LDPE Raw Material is also widely used in the production of wire & cable insulation sheath. Cross-linked LDPE is the main material used in the insulation layer of high-voltage cables. LDPE is also used in the production of injection-molded products (such as artificial flowers, medical instruments, medicine and food packaging material) and extrusion-molded tubes, plates, wire & cable coatings and profiled plastic products. LDPE Raw Material is also used for making blow-molded hollow products such as containers for holding food, medicine, cosmetics and chemical products, and tanks.

Recycling LDPE Raw Material
LDPE is an easily recyclable material and is collected by many recycling programs in most area. For recycling purposes, this material is identified by the resin ID code '4'. However, the different forms of LDPE packaging (i.e. film and bag vs. rigid), require different recycling channels. Rigid LDPE products such as bottles, containers, caps and lids are typically accepted through your traditional curbside recycling program. Flexible LDPE products, however, can be dropped off at participating retail stores in your area. Plastic Film Recycling, an organization supported by the Flexible Film Recycling Group of the American Chemistry Council, has put together a handy tool that allows you to locate local drop-off centers where you can recycle your clean and dry flexible LDPE products. Acceptable flexible LDPE materials include retail bags, zip-top food storage bags, plastic overwrap, and even plastic cereal box liners.

What is the Difference Between LDPE and HDPE?
LDPE and its sister plastic, HDPE, are two of the most common types of plastic on the market. They have a lot in common, and a lot that separates them too.
Some of the similarities between the two are that they both have low material weight and high impact strength. They are also both highly recyclable, which is one of the most attractive features of LDPE and HDPE. The fact that they can practically be used again and again and then converted into useful and new products after being discarded is a huge plus for businesses and the environment.
Both LDPE and HDPE are also cheap to make and have a low cost of manufacture and fabrication.
There are differences that set them apart too, though. For example, LDPE is much softer and more flexible than HDPE. It also has a lower melting point and is more transparent too. That means that LDPE is more prone to cracking under pressure and stress.
On the flip side of that, HDPE is more rigid and durable and is better at chemical resistance. It has a higher melting point and can withstand more brutal temperatures than LDPE.
While both LDPE and HDPE are recyclable, they cannot be recycled together. LDPE is classified under recycling number 4, and HDPE is recycling number 2. LDPE can be more difficult to recycle as it is softer and can get caught up in the machinery needed. Meanwhile, HDPE (often milk and juice cartons and other food containers) is easier to transport.
When it comes to molding and shaping stronger and more durable products, HDPE is much more useful and reliable than LDPE. Between both HDPE and LDPE, these two types of plastics have all sorts of industries covered - quite literally. With HDPE, they are able to transport and package materials, while LDPE is able to cover and coat and keep many perishables safe.
Without HDPE and LDPE, all sorts of foods and other precious items would be lost.
LDPE is a very special type of plastic that is something many people take for granted. You will remember the usefulness of LDPE the next time you wrap up some food that you want to enjoy again later. While there are a few disadvantages to LDPE plastics, the good far outweighs the bad with this unique creation that is used all over the world and throughout nearly every business. It is a low-cost, low-energy and environmentally-friendly product that creates a stronger shelf life for so many goods and makes life much, much easier for everyone.
